Over 20 years of experience! I’d encourage people who are shopping
around to ask other attorneys about their level of experience. My background,
especially with an international accounting firm, handling big ticket
items and doing the same work on my own ever since, holds up really well
against anyone else’s. I’ve handled a variety of cases. You
name it. I’ve handled it. I even see oddball cases. I’m a
solo practitioner. In almost all cases, if you call me I’ll pick
up the phone. I pride myself on being accessible to my clients.
Are Most Tax Attorneys Former CPAs? How Did that Help You?
Many tax attorneys are also CPAs, but not all. It does help me. It got
me five years training before law school that I wouldn’t otherwise
have had. CPAs are more numbers-oriented, and more detail-oriented, which
is important. I have that knowledge and that experience and can see a
client’s potential exposure in that area. I can also better understand
the legal issues, what the law says, what the requirements are under the
law; that goes beyond just the detailed numbers.
Furthermore, I’m very accessible. If you want to reach me, you can
usually get a hold of me almost right away, either by phone or by email.
It’s rare that a client is not going to hear back from me within
two or three hours. More often than not, they’ll reach me right
away or within a few minutes.
I’m dependable, too. If I say something is going to happen, that’s
what happens. I’m very easy to communicate with; I know that a lot
of people get frustrated with attorneys about communication. I’ve
never had that problem with my clients.
